Marshmallow are pillow soft, spongy,light and fluffy, chewy sweets made out of sugar, gelatin, just follows these easy steps!
Makes: 16
INGREDIENTS;
2 level tbsp gelatin
1 1/4 cups water
2 cups granulated sugar
Pinch of cream of tartar
1 egg white, beaten stiffly
1 tsp vanilla
1/4 cup icing sugar
1/4 cup corn flour
METHOD;
Step1. Soak gelatin 1/2 cup water.
Step2. Put sugar, cream of tartar, and 3/4 cup water in a saucepan, bring to the boil and let boil until syrup spins a thread when dropped from tip of spoon.
Step3. Add soaked gelatin and let stand until cool.
Step4. Add stiffly beaten egg white to syrup with vanilla.
Step5. Beat with electric beater mixer at full speed until mixture is white and spongy and beginning to set.
Step6. Pour into a pan that has been rinsed with water
Step7. Stand until quite firm and set, cut in squares.
Step8. Blend icing sugar and corn flour and then, coat with sugar mixture.
NB: use a few drops food coloring if preferred.
